Get Active, Understanding and Utilizing Activity Guidelines
Establish Physical Activity Plans for Yourself—and Your Community—That Comply With the AHA’s Recommendations
We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes per week of aerobic activity of moderate intensity, 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of both.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. and globally. Stroke ranks second globally. According to the AHA’s “2022 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Update,” only 1 in 4 adults reported achieving the physical activity and exercise recommended in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ “Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, 2nd Edition.”
